Research has shown that pupils learn best when their intellectual, social and emotional needs are met. Hence, as teachers, it is important for us to help our pupils develop social and emotional skills alongside teaching them the academic curriculum. Clearly, this is not easy to do in large mixed ability classes with limited time but we hope to illustrate that it is not an impossible task.
